Our Pod Family of Businesses includes The Pod Works, Tacoma Children’s School, and The Co-Lab.
The Pod Works is a family-friendly mix of office space and playrooms. Parents use this space to work while their children play. There is no staff or childcare on site.
The Co-Lab offers on-site childcare (book here) and kid-free office space. This location also offers a rotation of camps and classes including after-school enrichment classes.
Tacoma Children’s School (TCS) offers classes for children 3 - 5 years old including a morning preschool class. Our intentional environment and integrated education style inspires children to create, explore, and connect.

Our drop-in childcare is actually explorative and creative learning time hosted in our Learning Lab. Everything we do is intentionally and thoughtfully designed by our lead teachers to ensure children feel confident and clear, safe and seen.
The theme of the The Co-Lab’s Learning Lab changes monthly. One month your children will delight in a playing farmer’s market another they’ll be telling you all about the rocket ship they took to the moon.
Our teachers lead art projects, story time, free play, and outdoor time.

Absolutely! Rain or shine. So be sure to pack weather-appropriate clothing. And, as always, an extra set of clothing. You never know when the mud kitchen will have a busy shift.
Our outdoor space includes a wooden play structure and tire swing.

Short answer: yes!
Long answer: our teachers don’t change nappies. Often our parents with diapered ones will work upstairs at The Co-Lab so they can pop down and assist on diaper swaps. Or time their drop-ins around … their kid’s dump-ins.
-
Every teacher at The Co-Lab is interviewed and hired by our lead teacher, Natasha Howell, who has over two decades in childhood development and teaching experience.
Every teacher undergoes a full background check. As well as an extensive personal employment and referral assessment.
Our business would be nothing without the incredible teachers we have on staff.

Sometimes better than others. ;) But in all honesty, there’s something about a change of scenery that works productivity magic. With the front room set up for parents to work and two rooms for kids to play, it’s the perfect destination to bang out a couple hours work. And the full coffee bar doesn’t hurt.
Often parents will sync up with other families with kids that enjoy playing together. They save work projects that can be done while chatting (and throwing the occasion snack at the littles).
Working parents also love the 24/7 of it all. Kids up at 6am? Load ‘em up and let them play while you journal, sift through emails, or plan your day. Or maybe you need to get focused at night — leave the kids with your partner and remove the distractions of your home by working at The Pod Works.
