Last month Our Pod Family Day hit all the marks for Tacoma’s young Pokemon fans. It’s been commonly requested lately and a popular birthday party theme! Not to mention all the fun of reliving our youth and trying to learn it all again as adults. We decided to go all out … Pokeball costume and all.

Pokemon Activites
Ages 0-3

Pokeball Hunt
aka Easter Egg hunt
you get the idea.
use the opportunity to practice colors, spaceal awareness and following directions if and when they need help hunting. “Look up high … maybe underneath.”

Pokemon Go
aka popcorn
hold the edges of a blanket and wave up and down to bounce the pokeballs in the air see how many get away
go fast and slow. practice counting and motor skills.

Sing a song
to the tune of where is thumbkin
Where is baby (insert baby’s name)? Where is baby?
Pikachu! Pikachu!
Go, go baby, go.
I choose you. I choose you.

Where is Mama? Where is Mama?
Pikachu! Pikachu!
Go, go Mama, go.

Pokemon card battles
To learn to play, watch this YouTube tutorial.

Gotta catch ‘em all
Play What time is it Mr Fox.
But Pokeball saying, “it’s time to catch ‘em all!!”

Make your own Pokemon
Cut out paper and ears to make Pikachu headbands
OR cut out shapes and colors that resemble the main characters and have the kids put them together
OR cut out your own shapes to mix and match
Try using playdough or clay for a new sensory experience
For new characters, come up with names and strengths/weaknesses

Make your own Pokeball
Find any balls in your house and turn this into a Pokeball.
Use paint, paper, markers, puff balls and ribbon, anything you can find in the red, white and black color scheme or create a color all your own.
